FaZe vs G2. A classic Counter-Strike rivalry that has enjoyed countless explosive contests.
Although the two teams may have slipped down the rankings, they still stand tall as two of the greatest organisations in CS history, and their recent form suggests they might be on the rise once more.
The latest edition of their historic rivalry more than lived up to expectations, so let's go over the action.
G2 kicked off Inferno with a strong T side, they soon found themselves 6-1 up as huNter- led by example to pick up 10 frags across the half.
FaZe did look like they might get something out of the half, a few comfortable round wins saw them draw the score closer and seemingly shifted momentum in their favour, but HeavyGod was having none of it and put them to the sword in round 12.
A crushing blow for FaZe, they didn't come close to enjoying the same level of fortune as G2 had done on their own T side, soon finding themselves 11-4 down as they lost the opening three rounds of the second half.
FaZe did then manage to pull one back, but one round in a half is very rarely good enough in CS2, and they fell 13-5 as huNter- capped off the game with 16 kills to top frag.
FaZe rallied as they came into Dust2, opening the map with a quick three round winning streak on their T side.
G2 refused to suffer the same fate, though, and they soon found themselves levelling the score. They even looked like they might win the half, too, largely thanks to frozen making a questionable play.
6-6 at the half, the second half was much of the same with both teams going on runs of rounds, but clutch plays out of the G2 players meant that they were the first team to reach 12 rounds.
Sent to overtime, the clutch plays continued from both teams, meaning that we needed a second overtime in order to find a winner.
That winner was eventually found in the form of G2, who shut out FaZe on their CT side to close out the map 19-15.
