Despite almost getting blown out by underdogs M80 on map two, MOUZ ended the first quarter-final here at BLAST Open London with a dominant win on Inferno to take the series 2-1.
A solid start, they did what was needed of them, and after the match we caught up with their star Spinx to discuss M80's strength, his own struggles on Mirage, and yet another clash with Vitality.
Congratulations of the win, how are you feeling?
I'm feeling good. M80 are a real team, of course, not the favourites, but they win a lot, they play decent CS.
They're doing better than I expected, and when you prepare for them it's clear that they're doing well, so I'm happy that we managed to beat them.
It was a strange series for you personally considering how tough the first half of map two was, so was getting all the kills in the second half of that map important for you to go on and shine in map three?
Definitely, all those kills on the CT were good for the confidence. At some point in the first half I was 0-10, so it's hard to be confident when you aren't at your best.
But, one round is all it takes, and my teammates supported me to get that, but unfortunately the Mirage was not good enough, our comeback wasn't enough and we lost a lot of T rounds, but I'm happy we won Inferno.
What was the big difference for you individually on map three?
I think we just played how we wanted to play, and we didn't do that on Mirage. Every round on that map was 3v4, 3v5 after 20 seconds, but Inferno just wasn't the same. We just faced them head on and it worked out.
When it comes to map three, after those close maps that came before, is that where experience begins to show or is that just where you guys found that firepower level that you have over them?
If we have experience, we need to show it on map one, two, and three. So I'm not sure it was that, it was just that we found focus and it started to click.
Do you think M80 is a team we'll see on these types of stages more often?
If they keep going like this and keep improving, absolutely.
You'll face Vitality tomorrow, how are you feeling about it?
Vitality again, mezii and his home crowd, it'll be nice. I don't think either team are at their best at the moment, so let's just see who brings the better game tomorrow.
